A very quiet morning at Saucon Valley

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It was a serene setting here at the U.S. Women’s Open until Lorena Ochoa shook the trees at her 11th hole (No. 2).

Ochoa rolled in a 50-foot birdie there to ignite a fierce but lonely roar. That’s another thing you notice here at Saucon Valley. There are almost no roars, with birdies so hard to come by. Ochoa’s birdie moved her back to 1 under.

The gallery for Ochoa, Paula Creamer and In-Kyung Kim has swollen massively with their mid-morning turn to their back nine.
