DORAL, Fla. – Jimmy Walker carded the second-lowest round of the day on Saturday, a 5-under 67, and wasn’t surprised at all with his 10-stroke turnaround from an eventful second round.
In fact, Walker wasn’t even aware of his bounce-back accomplishment following his round on Saturday.
“I don’t even know what I shot yesterday,” he smiled. “When it’s conditions like that it’s tough and then you get today and things are a lot better than yesterday.”
Walker’s 67 included a penalty stroke at the fourth hole when he blasted his bunker shot into a water hazard and took a double bogey. Still, after Friday’s conditions, when winds gusted to 35 mph, he said that miscue was easy to overcome.
“Last night I felt beat, the guys felt beat up. There were a lot of guys downstairs (at the hotel) last night having a beer,” he said.
