THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – In the wake of Tiger Woods’ one-stroke victory on Sunday at the Chevron World Challenge, the attention immediately turned to when U.S. crowds will see the world’s 21st-ranked player.
Woods’ first scheduled start of 2012 will be the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on the European Tour Jan. 26-29, seven weeks from now. Speculation at Sherwood Country Club suggested his first PGA Tour start will be at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am the second week of February, which he hasn’t played since 2002.
On Sunday Woods’ manager Mark Steinberg said nothing has been solidified following Abu Dhabi. The Northern Trust Open is the week after Pebble Beach following by the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, which Woods will certainly play.
Also up in the air will be the Honda Classic in south Florida after the Match Play, which in now Woods’ hometown event followed by the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral.
“I’m going to take a look at it the next couple weeks, because obviously I have family things I need to sort out, so that will kind of go into my scheduling for next year,” Woods said on Wednesday. “I’m going to sit down and kind of figure that out.”
