JAKARTA, Indonesia - The European Tour returns to Jakarta this week for the Indonesian Open.
Last year, Simon Dyson and Andrew Buckle both fired four rounds in the 60s, but it was Dyson who walked away with the crown. He was two strokes better than Buckle and Dyson feels like ‘the one to beat’ this week.
‘Because of the year I had in Asia, I feel like I am the one to beat whenever I come back,’ said Dyson, who won three times on the Asian Tour in 2000. ‘So the confidence is up and even when I am not playing great I come here and get the results.’
The event shifts to a new course this year as Damai Indah Golf & Country Club will play host this week. Last year, the event was held at Emeralda Golf & Country Club.
Indonesia has been hit with flooding recently, but the course escaped those problems and is in fine shape for the event.
The field will be a mix of European Tour and Asian Tour players. Thailand natives Thaworn Wiratchant and Thongchai Jaidee headline the Asian Tour players in the field.
The Golf Channel has coverage of all four rounds beginning Thursday at 7:30 a.m. ET.
The European Tour continues its International Schedule in the United States next week with the WGC-Accenture Match Play. U.S. Open champ Geoff Ogilvy will defend his crown at the Match Play next week.
