Goosen Agrees to Play in Exelon Invitational

The Exelon Invitational announced on Thursday that reigning U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen will compete at this year’s tournament. The Exelon Invitational, hosted by former U.S. Open winner Jim Furyk, will take place from June 5-6, 2005 at Hartefeld National Golf Club in Avondale, Pennsylvania.

‘We’re thrilled to have Retief Goosen participating in this year’s tournament,’ said Pam Strobel, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Exelon. ‘The fans will have another opportunity to see one of the best golfers in the world up close at the Exelon Invitational.’

Goosen, who won his second U.S. Open title last year at Shinnecock Hills, will join an impressive list of players who have competed at the Exelon Invitational, including World No. 1 Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia, Davis Love III and Nick Price.

Masters champion Phil Mickelson won last year’s event in a playoff, capturing 11 skins to beat John Daly, Stuart Appleby and Chad Campbell.
