Tiger Woods picked up his first win of the season Sunday at the Buick Invitational and moved closer to world No. 1 Vijay Singh in the latest Official World Golf Ranking.
Woods, who won a stroke-play event on the PGA Tour for the first time since the 2003 season, is now 1.05 points behind Singh in the world rankings, down from the 2.45 margin of a week ago.
Ernie Els stayed put at No. 3 followed by Retief Goosen, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Mike Weir, Davis Love III and Stewart Cink, as the top 10 remained the same from last week.
Mercedes Championships winner Stuart Appleby was 11th and Adam Scott, Miguel Jimenez, Daren Clarke, Chris DiMarco and Chad Campbell all held their spots. Luke Donald made a jump from 25th to 17th this week, knocking David Toms down a rung in the process.
Kenny Perry also dropped one to No. 19, while Todd Hamilton rounded out the top 20.
Tim Clark won the South African Airways Open for the second time in his career on Sunday and vaulted to No. 49 in the rankings.
