David Toms moved up to No. 9 in the Official World Golf Ranking following his victory at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship on Sunday.
Toms, who was the runner up to Tiger Woods at the 2003 Match Play Championship, ousted Chris DiMarco, 6 and 5, in the championship match at La Costa Resort & Spa.
Vijay Singh remained at No. 1 despite losing to Jay Haas in the second round of the Match Play Championship. Woods also lost in round two and held onto the second spot in the rankings. Ernie Els stayed put at No. 3 and will return to action this week at the Dubai Desert Classic.
Masters champion Phil Mickelson was fourth followed by two-time U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen. Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott and Padraig Harrington maintained their positions while Toms jumped from No. 16 to No. 9.
Mike Weir rounded out the top 10. Stewart Cink remained at No. 11, while Davis Love III dropped two places to No. 12. Stuart Appleby was down to No. 13 followed by DiMarco, who moved up to No. 14 after his runner-up finish at the Match Play Championship.
Darren Clarke and Miguel Angel Jimenez both fell two spots to No. 15 and No. 16, respectively. Chad Campbell came in at No. 17 this week, while Luke Donald dropped one position to No. 18. Justin Leonard came in at No. 19, swapping positions with Kenny Perry, who fell to No. 20.
Geoff Ogilvy survived a three-way playoff at the Chrysler Classic of Tucson for his first career victory on the PGA Tour and in the process vaulted to No. 60 in the world.
