Joe Ozaki played six holes Saturday monring in 1 over.

The man who tied the Champions Tour record with eight consecutive birdies on Friday finished with a 7-under 65 in round two and completed 36 holes tied for the lead at 8-under-par 136.

Tom Purtzer also finished his second round on Saturday and birdied two of his last three holes for a 5-under 67 and a share of first place.

Six players -- Tom Watson, Don Pooley, Gil Morgan, Jerry Pate, David Edwards and Mike Reid -- shared the clubhouse lead when the horn sounded Friday afternoon and remained in a tie atop the leaderboard.

Friday, Ozaki started in a tie for 34th place and began making up ground early when he kickstarted his streak with a chip-in birdie at the par-4 second hole.

Ozaki later wrapped up his birdie stretch with some memorable shots: an approach shot he landed within 18 inches at the par-5 seventh; a 30-foot birdie putt at the par-3 eighth; and a 12-footer at the par-4 ninth to tie Dana Quigley’s mark.

Ozaki added another birdie at the par-4 11th, moving to 10 under for a two-stroke lead, but he gave that shot back at the par-3 12th during a rare lapse in concentration when he lipped out an 18-inch par putt.

The horn sounded for a weather delay moments later with Ozaki on the 13th hole.

First-round co-leader Fuzzy Zoeller managed an even-par 72 in round two and is part of a group tied for ninth place. Scott Simpson (70), Quigley (68), Dick Mast (67), Jim Thorpe (70) and two-time winner this season Brad Bryant (69) joined Zoeller at minus-7.

Ron Streck, who shared first with Zoeller on Thursday, struggled to a one-over 73 and is part of a group tied for 15th with the season’s first two major winners - Loren Roberts (67) and Jay Haas (70). That group is at 6-under-par 138.

Allen Doyle, who won last week’s U.S. Senior Open, posted a second-round, 3-over-par 75 and is tied for 40th place at minus-1.
