Wie Confirmed for Samsung World Championship

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Michelle Wie accepted an invitation to compete in the 2004 edition of the prestigious Samsung World Championship Wednesday.

The 14-year-old will join the 20-player field that will include Annika Sorenstam, Se Ri Pak, Grace Park and defending champion Sophie Gustafson on The Canyons Course at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California, from October 14-17.

The exemption is the sixth and final for Wie on the LPGA Tour in 2004.

Wie has played in two events on the LPGA Tour so far this season, the Safeway International, where she tied for 19th, and the Kraft Nabisco Championship, where she finished fourth.
