Zayra Calderon, chief executive officer of the LPGA Symetra Tour, will be leaving her role with in June.
In a memo obtained by Golf Channel, LPGA commissioner Mike Whan said Calderon had already delayed her move toward retirement once this year. Calderon has been the chief executive of the Symetra Tour since May 2000, and was named chief of tournament business affairs for the LPGA Tour in January 2009.
After Calderon leaves the posts in June, she will remain a consultant through the end of the year to help with the transition process to new leadership. Commissioner Whan did not name an immediate replacement in the memo.
Calderon has been involved with the LPGA’s developmental tour for over 15 years. She obtained partial ownership of the Futures Tour in 1996 before gaining full control over the organization. Calderon led the sale of the tour to the LPGA in 2007, which now offers a path from the Symetra Tour to the LPGA Tour.
