The English Premier League will resume after the international break this weekend for Matchday Eight.

With the season already over 20% completed, let’s examine some of the prominent trends that will help when determining our Matchday bets moving forward:

  • BTTS has covered in 47.1% of the games this season
  • In the 70 games played so far, 50% of them have finished with a total of over 2.5 goals.
  • The home team has either won or tied in 68.7% of the matches this season.

With all that said, let’s jump into my favorite Premier League prop bets of the weekend. All odds are from PointsBet Sportsbook and are reflective at the time of writing.

Best Bet #1 - Cristiano Ronaldo to Score (+110)

Even at age 36, there is always incredible value when wagering on Cristiano Ronaldo as an anytime Goalscorer at plus odds. He averages 0.77 goals per league game (629 goals in 815 games).

Since returning to Manchester United this season, the Portuguese striker has failed to score in just one of the EPL games he started this season.

Much like the rest of the greats, it does not take much for Ronaldo to get motivated. That said, if he scores this weekend against Leicester City, he will have found the net against 120 opponents via The BBC.

Leicester has failed to win a game in their last four Premier League matches and has already given up 12 goals this season (fourth-worst in the EPL).

*Note: When wagering on any player prop, you will want to make sure they are in the starting lineup. Some lineups may be different than usual this week as players are traveling back from their international duties.

Best Bet #2 - Manchester City to win Both Halves (-103)

The Manchester City vs. Burnley matchup is by far the most lopsided game of the weekend. Pointsbet currently has Manchester City listed at -1000 odds to win this game.

Now, it is never wise to take a favorite with that kind of juice. However, there is value in taking the Cityzens to win both halves at -103. The “Win Both Halves” market means that the selected team must score more goals than the opponent in both halves independently.

So far this season, Manchester City is averaging two goals a game. They average 0.71 goals in the first half and 1.29 goals in the second half. Defensively Pep Guardiola‘s side gives up 0.43 goals a game and has not given up a first-half goal all season.

Meanwhile, Burnley does not know how to score. They have just two goals this season with averages of 0.43 in the first half and 0.29 in the second half. Defensively they concede 1.57 goals a game, 0.43 in the first half and 1.14 in the second half.

Manchester City has covered this wager market against Burnley in six of their last ten head-to-head matchups in the Premier League and in four of their previous five versus the Clarets.
