A decision could come soon regarding the status of Syracuse junior center Dajuan Coleman.
The 6-foot-10 Coleman hasn’t played since Jan. 7, missing the final 19 games of last year with season-ending knee surgery. In the next few weeks, it will be decided whether or not Coleman will play this season, according to Donna Ditota of the Post Standard.
“He’s working a little bit more, but we’ll probably decide in the next couple weeks what’s going to happen, one way or the other,” Boeheim said following Monday night’s win over Colgate. “If he doesn’t look like he’s ready to go, then we’ll redshirt him.
“That’s what it looks like. But I want to give him a little bit more opportunity to see. That’s increasingly what it looks like unless he can put together five or six days and felt really good. He hasn’t been able to do that. So we’ll have to see.”
Coleman averaged 4.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in his 13 games in 2013-2014. In his absence, Rakeem Christmas has seen a rise in his offensive production while Chris McCullough got off to a hot start to his collegiate career, although, he has struggled in the last three contests, averaging 4.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Syracuse is 7-4 with two more non-conference games -- Long Beach State and Cornell -- before the start of ACC play.
