Thomas’ trash talk adds juice to Husky-Cougars showdown

Isaiah Thomas’ hot streak is earning him raves around the web (including here).

It’s also making him a bit bold. The junior point guard threw some verbal digs at in-state rival Washington State on Wednesday, providing some juice for their game this Sunday. Why would anyone go to Pullman?

From the Seattle Times:

“It looks just like a prep school,” Thomas said. “It’s in the middle of nowhere. It’s snowing. It’s cold. I don’t understand why people want to go there.”

Bryan-Amaning added: “I understand why, it’s the No. 1 party school.”

“I like the big cities, man.,” Thomas said. “I like cities like Seattle, with all the new people you meet every day. Things like that.”

Then again, that’s typical talk for Thomas, who’s not afraid of any team or any defender. Besides, when it comes to UW and Wazzu, trash talking’s all part of the game. Especially when the guys on both teams have known each other for years.

Thomas is eager to play against Cougars sophomore Reggie Moore, who attended Rainer Beach High School in Seattle. (Thomas went to Curtis in Tacoma.)

“It’s all about bragging rights,” Thomas said. “We’re real cool. He’s my guy. He knows I support (him), but he also knows when we play I’m going to do everything in my power to get my team a win.”

The way he’s playing, it shouldn’t be too hard.
