PITCHER
Top Play: Ranger Suarez - Philadelphia (vs. Baltimore)
Suarez has been cruising with 33 strikeouts and only five earned runs across 29 innings over his last five starts. That’s elite territory. There’s no reason to believe the flame will extinguish tonight, as he’s facing a Baltimore team that ranks 23rd in wRC+ with the seventh-highest strikeout rate (24.2%). Suarez will definitely be a “chalk play”, but he’s good chalk for cash games and smaller tournaments.
Also Consider: Nestor Cortes, Huascar Ynoa

CATCHER
Top Play: Travis d’Arnaud - Atlanta (at Arizona)
Atlanta checks in with one of the highest run-scoring projections of the night. That makes sense as they are facing Arizona RHP Humberto Mejia, who has allowed six earned runs and 14 hits across 11 innings over his last two starts. It doesn’t hurt that the Diamondbacks have one of the worst bullpens in the league either. d’Arnaud is an affordable piece of this exciting Atlanta stack.
Also Consider: Sean Murphy, Omar Narvaez
FIRST BASE
Top Play: Yuli Gurriel - Houston (at LA Angels)
Houston is another stacking option, as the Astros have the highest run-scoring projection of the night. The matchup looks good against LAA RHP Jaime Barria, who has a 5.12 xFIP on the season to go along with a career .363 wOBA split to right-handed bats. It just so happens that Houston has plenty of righties to take advantage. Gurriel is one of them, as he holds a nice contact/power combination.
Also Consider: Freddie Freeman, Anthony Rizzo
SECOND BASE
Top Play: Jean Segura - Philadelphia (vs. Baltimore)
Segura is swinging a hot bat with six multi-hit outings in his last nine games. He also has three homers over that span, which serves as a nice bonus. Baltimore LHP John Means hasn’t been terrible since returning from injury, but he has encountered a few blowup spots. The Orioles have one of the worst bullpens in the league too, so Segura and company will find their production one way or another.
Also Consider: Kolten Wong, Josh Harrison (value)
THIRD BASE
Top Play: Alex Bregman - Houston (at LA Angels)
Bregman piggybacks the write-up of Gurriel earlier in this article. You can look towards Gurriel, Altuve, Bregman, Correa, and maybe a cheap right-handed outfielder from Houston. The mainstays serve as the core to this stack, and you could argue that Bregman has the best floor/ceiling/salary combination of that group.
Also Consider: Eduardo Escobar, Matt Chapman
SHORTSTOP
Top Play: Carlos Correa - Houston (at LA Angels)
Keep stacking those Astros! It doesn’t hurt that Houston saw Barria just over a week ago. Even though they only pushed across one run through four innings of work, the Astros got a good look at him. They could use that to their advantage to live up to their billing as the top stack of the night. Correa is a big part of that, especially at a shortstop position that doesn’t have much opportunity cost this evening.
Also Consider: Luis Rengifo (value), Jack Mayfield (GPP)
OUTFIELD
Top Play: Starling Marte - Oakland (vs. Seattle)
Marte has been fantastic since he joined the Athletics. He cooled off in the weekend series with Los Angeles, but I have faith that he will come back in a big way against the Mariners. The matchup against LHP Tyler Anderson is a good one, as the Seattle southpaw has allowed three or more earned runs in three of his last four games.
Top Play: Christian Yelich - Milwaukee (vs. St. Louis)
If you have enough cap space to make it work, go ahead and look towards Yelich. He’s cheaper than usual due to an uninspiring season. There’s a chance we’ll see his MVP form against a high-contact pitcher like Jake Woodford of St. Louis. Woodford has a .352 wOBA split to left-handed bats, so that plays to Yelich’s favor.
Also Consider: Jorge Soler (value), Andrew McCutchen, Brett Gardner, Eddie Rosario, Chas McCormick (value), Mark Canha
