With Opening Day less than a month away, there’s no time like the present to start cramming for your fantasy baseball drafts. And there’s no better resource to help guide you to another championship than our 2019 MLB Draft Guide. This year’s edition is as jam packed as ever with over 1,500 player profiles, customizable projections, rankings, positional tiers and a ton of exclusive columns.
One of those columns is Ryan Boyer’s annual Sleepers column where he breaks down 10 of his favorite under-the-radar picks for this year. Here’s a small sampling of what you can get in the full online Draft Guide.
Jonathan Villar, 2B/SS, Baltimore Orioles
Villar began last season in a fairly regular role with the Brewers as their primary second baseman, but by midseason his playing time had dipped and he went on the disabled list with a thumb injury. A trade to the Orioles seemed to revitalize the infielder, as Villar belted eight home runs and went 21-for-24 in stolen base attempts over the final two months with his new club. Villar is a flawed player who strikes out too much and battles inconsistency, but he’s certainly proven capable of producing for fantasy owners in the past. The rebuilding Orioles have handed him an everyday role and a prominent spot in their lineup, making Villar a good bet to pile up stolen bases and show a little pop with the hitter-friendly Camden Yards as his home.

Collin McHugh, SP, Houston Astros
The Astros didn’t have room for McHugh in their rotation last season. Instead, he proved to be quite a weapon for them out of the bullpen, putting up a 1.99 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 94/21 K/BB ratio over 72 1/3 frames before tossing another four scoreless relief innings in the playoffs. The veteran right-hander is headed back to the rotation in 2019, and keep in mind that he held a 3.70 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 567/168 K/BB ratio across 606 1/3 innings as a starter for Houston from 2014-17. McHugh will serve up his fair share of home runs, but he misses a good number of bats and will have a good shot at wins with the Astros’ offense backing him. He’s a perfect late-round pitching target.
