MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—The Melbourne home of golfer Aaron Baddeley ’sparents has been destroyed by fire.
Wonga Park Country Fire Authority captain Kingsley Allen says the house wasablaze when emergency crews arrived early Wednesday, and 50 fire fighters tookan hour to bring it under control.
A 60-year-old male occupant was treated for burns on his foot, Allen says.There were no suspicious circumstances, he said, estimating the damage bill atabout $800,000.
Allen says among the items saved were “multiple sets of golf clubs,trophies, photos and awards.”
Baddeley beat Vijay Singh by two strokes to the win Northern Trust Open twoweeks ago, the 29-year-old Australian’s first win on the PGA Tour in more thanfour years.
