Clark records first ace of week at Oak Hill’s 11th

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Oak Hill finally surrendered an ace on Sunday.

Tim Clark recorded the first hole-in-one of the 95th PGA Championship by holing his 220-yard 3-hybrid shot on the 11th. It was his third career ace, following his holes-in-one at the 2004 Funai Classic and ’08 Zurich Classic.

Interestingly, it was the first ace at the PGA Championship since Tom Lehman in 2010.

The hole-in-one was the lone bright spot in a largely forgettable week for the South African, who shot rounds of 69-71-75-75 (10-over 290) and finished T-68 among the 75 players who made the cut.

Clark was a trendy pick to start the week because of his short-and-straight game off the tee. That’s what carried him to a solo third here in 2003, the last time the PGA was held at Oak Hill.
