ORLANDO, Fla. – Steve Stricker dismissed speculation that he has been contacted by Augusta National officials about a possible first- and second-round pairing with Tiger Woods at next month’s Masters.
“Lot of rumors, but none have been true,” Stricker said on Friday at Bay Hill.
Stricker, the second-ranked player behind Woods and a frequent playing partner, also clarified his stance on whether he would want to be paired with Woods.
“It would be fine,” he said. “I’m going to treat him the same way I did before it all happened. If I get paired with him it will be a challenge, but it was a challenge playing with him all last year and at the Presidents Cup. It’s a good experience.”
Stricker played the first two rounds of The Barclays, Deutsche Bank Championship and BMW Championship and the first round of the Tour Championship with Woods last year and was teamed with him for all four team matches at the Presidents Cup.
