PRATTVILLE, Ala. – Michelle Wie’s displaying more than her golf skills in the first round of the Navistar LPGA Classic.
She’s displaying the artsy, fashion-loving side of her personality.
Wie shot a 6-under-par 66 at the Senator Course at Capitol Hill on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail with some sort of large Hawaiian flower tucked around her right ear.
“I don’t know what kind of flower it is,” Wie said.
She did, however, know what kind of shots to hit Thursday, moving within a shot of the lead behind 14-year-old Alexis Thompson in the morning wave.
Wie recently began posting her artistic creations and fashion designs on blog she calls A Black Flamingo.
Solheim Cup teammate Juli Inkster predicted Wie would use the momentum gained in the international team event to win before the year is out. This is one of three chances Wie has remaining to make Inkster look good. Wie plans to play just three LPGA events the rest of the year.
