AUGUSTA, Ga. – This marks the first Masters for Joe LaCava on Tiger Woods’ bag and the first in many years he isn’t looping for his longtime boss Fred Couples.
Following his second-round 70, Couples was asked if he missed having LaCava on the bag: “Not today,” he joked.
Since LaCava went to work for Woods in September, Couples has had girlfriend Midge Trammell and veteran looper Cayce Kerr split time on his bag. He said he went with Kerr this week because of his experience as Fuzzy Zoeller’s longtime caddie, but admitted it is a little strange not having LaCava with him.
“I miss Joe, sure,” said Couples, who played a practice round with Woods earlier in the week. “Joe was a sport nut, like me, and he made the day a lot easier. Try to tell Cayce that.”
