Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Braves have signed outfielder Peter Bourjos to a major league contract. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports adds that the deal is worth $1 million.
Bourjos, 30, spent his spring with the Cubs but was released recently. The Braves wasted no time picking him up. Bourjos will be a backup outfielder for the first two weeks of the season and will likely cede his roster spot when the club is ready to call up Ronald Acuna.
With the Rays last season, Bourjos hit a subpar .223/.272/.383 in 203 plate appearances.
