Brewers reliever John Axford, having no doubt witnessed the incredible media attention paid to Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow simply arriving at training camp, sent out this tweet:

Tim Tebow has become a Kardashian of professional sports!

— John Axford (@JohnAxford) July 27, 2012

Not surprisingly Axford got some flak from what must be an absolutely amazing social intersection of Tim Tebow fans and Kim Kardashian fans, at which point he tweeted:

To the people that like to talk crap every time I tweet...I apologize for ruining your life! PS - you’re not original and nor do I care!

— John Axford (@JohnAxford) July 27, 2012

And I wasn’t referring to talent with that Kardashian analogy. Tebow has more talent in his pinky finger than Kim has in her entire family!

— John Axford (@JohnAxford) July 27, 2012

I simply meant media attention with, what seems to be, every time they do something!

— John Axford (@JohnAxford) July 27, 2012

Now even @espn is trying to make me look like a jerk...you may want to show my other tweets since people apparently don’t get it!

— John Axford (@JohnAxford) July 27, 2012

It’s never a great sign when you need four follow-up posts to explain your initial post, but Axford basically just made a variation of the same joke everyone makes about the Kardashians and based on his past tweeting he seems like a nice, funny, smart guy. Also, if what Axford said about their respective talent levels is true perhaps Tebow should try throwing with his pinky finger.
