Double Olympic champion Sun Yang was reportedly reinstated by China’s swimming federation, ending a suspension since November following a car accident.

Sun, 22, was found to be driving a Porsche Cayenne without a license after an accident in China in November. He spent a week in police detention.

It remains to be seen when Sun will return to competition, uncertainty that may be complicated by his reported foot surgery in January. This queasy photo was posted on Sun’s Instagram account Tuesday.

The biggest international events this year are the Pan Pacific Championships in August and the World Short Course Championships in December. China has national championships in May.

Sun, 22, won the 400m and 1500m freestyles at the London Olympics and three more gold medals at the 2013 World Championships. He was named the top men’s performer at worlds over Ryan Lochte.
