A German men’s shot putter, a Russian women’s triple jumper and a Comoros men’s 1500m runner were part of a randomly selected 8x100m mixed-nation, mixed-gender relay team that won the final track and field event of the Youth Olympics on Tuesday.
More than 500 athletes across all track and field disciplines took part in the event held outside the Olympic Sports Center Stadium and on Yanshan Road in Nanjing.
The winning team, after advancing from heats, prevailed in the final in 1 minute, 40.2 seconds, which was .71 faster than David Rudisha‘s world record in the open 800m.
