After two other stops, former Penn State guard Tre Bowman commits to Iona

For guard Tre Bowman, all roads have led to Iona.

The 6-4 native of York, Penn., has made stops at Penn State, Midland College (Texas), and Texas Southern, but after a campus visit Monday to the New Rochelle, N.Y., Bowman has committed to the Gaels, according to the York Dispatch.

“I plan on going to Iona and having a bright two years and then continue to play basketball -- hopefully in the NBA,” Bowman told the paper. “As long as I come in and work hard, I definitely should see some playing time.”

Bowman began his career at Penn State, where he was used sparingly in his one season in Happy Valley and eventually kicked off the team. He then landed at Midland, where he played the 2011-12 season before signing a letter of intent to play at Texas Southern.

During this offseason, though, Texas Southern coach Tony Harvey resigned and was replaced by former Indiana coach Mike Davis, prompting Bowman to look elsewhere.

Now he lands at Iona, a team that is coming off a 25-8 season, and he is reportedly eligible to play right away with the Gaels. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

While at Penn State, he averaged 0.8 points in four minutes per game. At Midland this past season, he appeared in 22 games, averaging 11.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest.
