If this is the year Arizona is supposed to make some noise in the Pac-10, then they’re going to have to play a little better than they did in the first half on the road at Toledo.
The Wildcats’ 21-2 lead after the end of two quarters doesn’t really tell the whole story. With just over three minutes left in the first half, Arizona led only 7-2, but a quick 36-yard touchdown run by running back Nic Grigsby gave Mike Stoops’ team some breathing room.
On Toledo’s next drive, Austin Dantin’s pass was intercepted by Arizona linebacker Derek Earls. The interception led to a Nick Foles 1-yard touchdown run.
Foles, a junior from Austin, Texas, is 18-of-21 for 151 yards in the first half.
Toledo’s lone score came on a safety when holding was called on Arizona lineman Conan Amituanai in the endzone.
