On the same day they learned starting tackle Mike Adams would be out for at least two weeks after knee surgery, Ohio State also learned they would be without the “heart” of their offensive line this weekend as well.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, guard Justin Boren has a foot injury that will keep him out of this weekend’s “game”. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, the “game” is against 3-5 WAC member New Mexico State.
Head coach Jim Tressel seemed surprised that Boren is out for the game, but doesn’t feel it will be a long-term issue for the Michigan transfer.
“Well, I don’t know that,” Tressel said. “I was surprised that he was going to be out this week. I didn’t know until after the end of yesterday’s work.”
The Buckeyes did get some good news on the injury front; running back Brandon Saine, who suffered a mild concussion last weekend, is expected to be in the starting lineup Saturday.
