Lost amidst all of the hoopla, drama and controversy surrounding the recruitment of Bryce Brown was the fact that he had actually played football, and played it quite well.As a junior and senior at Wichita (KS) East High School, Brown rushed for just over 3,700 yards and scored 52 touchdowns on the ground. Needless to say, Brown has the talent to succeed at the Division I level. So talented, in fact, that Volunteer head coach Lane Kiffin sees some similarities between his new recruit and an old one from his days at Southern Cal.According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Kiffin said Brown is the best tailback he and Tennessee recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron have recruited since Reggie Bush earlier this decade."This guy is so exciting,” Kiffin said according to the paper. “I’m not saying he’s Reggie, but there’s a lot of comparisons."If Brown can be half the player Bush was on the field during his Trojan playing days, it’ll be considered a recruiting coup for Kiffin & Company. Hopefully for all of the Tennessee faithful jacked by the arrival of Kiffin and Brown in Knoxville, though, the latter sticks to emulating Bush off the field only during his collegiate playing days.Given the person Brown and his family chose to guide them through the recruiting process, however, one has to wonder.
