After one season of learning the ins and outs of Nevada’s unique offense, Casey Moore is on the receiving end of a promotion.
Wolf Pack head coach Chris Ault announced via a press release Tuesday that Moore has been named as his new running backs coach. Moore will replace Jim Mastro, who spent 11 years with Ault before moving on to UCLA this past February to become the Bruins’ tight ends/F-backs coach/running game coordinator.
“Casey was a nice addition to my staff last year as the quality control coach and he really got a great introduction into our offensive scheme,” Ault said. “His background as a Stanford running back coupled with his three years in the NFL lends itself well to the style of running backs we have developed. He did a nice job coaching our backs this past spring. I’m pleased he’ll be a part of the staff.”
“I am extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity that Coach Ault has given me,” Moore said. “I will do everything I possibly can to ensure that the excellence at the running back position continues and I will push my players to be unrelenting in their desire to be the best at what they do.”
Prior to serving as a Wolf Pack quality control assistant -- specifically working with the quarterbacks -- Moore was a graduate assistant at his alma mater.
Moore started 44 straight games in the backfield for the Cardinal before embarking on an NFL career that included stops in Carolina and Arizona.
