Ex-UNC defensive backs coach joins Iowa State

Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads has finally completed filling all the vacancies in his coaching staff. The school announced yesterday that former North Carolina defensive backs coach Troy Douglas would be joining the Cyclones’ staff in the same capacity.

Douglas was part of the Tar Heels’ staff from 2009-11 and previously served on coaching staffs at South Florida, Indiana and Michigan State.

“Troy possesses a dynamic background after years of coaching the secondary at the BCS level,” Rhoads said in a statement. “His experience recruiting the state of Florida is important to our program. He coached with (Iowa State defensive coordinator) Wally Burnham at South Florida, so he came highly recommended.”

Some of Douglas’ former players include Tracy Porter (New Orleans Saints), Mike Jenkins (Dallas Cowboys) and Nate Allen (Philadelphia Eagles).
