In news you did not want to hear if you are a Gators fan, star defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III is probably questionable for this weekend’s game against SEC East foe Kentucky.
Florida head coach Jim McElwain was skeptical when discussing the health of his top defensive player on Monday. Hargreaves missed Florida’s weekend victory against East Carolina due to a leg injury suffered in practice last week. If Hargreaves is out for another game, that should be good news for Kentucky. Junior quarterback Patrick Towles is coming off a game in which he completed 21 of 29 pass attempts for 192 yards against South Carolina. Last season Towles passed for 369 yards and three touchdowns against the Gators, although he was also picked off three times.
If McElwain is simply trying to play some mind games with his coaching counterpart in Lexington, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops is probably not ready to fall into the potential trap.
Stoops expects Vernon Hargreaves to be back this Saturday. Didn't play vs. ECU.
