Keeping with the West Virginia theme of the past several hours, former Mountaineer quarterback Pat White has signed a minor league deal with the Kansas City Royals franchise.
According to Yahoo! Sports, who in turn references Pro Football Talk, White’s contract with the Royals franchise will potentially allow the quarterback to play baseball and give the UFL a try.
The specifics of White’s contract has not yet been released.
White, a second round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2009, was cut from the team just under a week ago on Sept. 4. He had finished his rookie year without a single completion and was used mostly in the wildcat formation.
This was not the first time White was offered a contract by an MLB franchise. White was drafted by the Anaheim Angels out of high school and offered a six-figure salary. In 2009, White again was summoned by professional baseball when the Yankees selected him in the 48th round.
