Earlier this morning, we posted that Florida State running back Chris Thompson had two broken vertebrae in his back -- an injury he suffered in the first quarter of the Seminoles’ loss to Wake Forest this past Saturday. The prognosis wasn’t expected to be good and head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed the worst-case scenario for Thompson.
In his Monday press conference, Fisher said that Thompson was done for the year. The running back, who was returning from a separate back injury last season, had stayed at a local hospital over the weekend and was back with teammates at practice today.
Additionally, Offensive tackle Andrew Datko needs shoulder surgery and will miss FSU’s next game against Duke. Fisher added that Datko’s surgery could also sideline the lineman for the year.
