As they came into Friday night’s game with Louisville at just 2-3 on the season, Cincinnati’s come-from-behind Big East win was just what the doctor ordered.
Unfortunately, and speaking of medical personnel, the win that got them to .500 may have come with a short-term price.
Wide receiver D.J. Woods suffered a head injury in the third quarter of the win and did not return. One account of the injury has Woods suffering from a concussion, although head coach Butch Jones attempted to downplay the injury after the game.
“D.J. is fine,” Jones said according to Rivals.com. “We are going to reevaluate him a little bit more.”
Woods came into the game leading the Bearcats with 29 receptions for 489 yards, and was tied for the lead in touchdown receptions with four. Fortunately for the Bearcats, their second-leading receiver, Armon Binns, remains healthy as was evidenced by his eight-reception, 175-yard, three-touchdown performance last night.
