Really, what else can he say at this point.
When his name was almost immediately connected to the LSU opening upon the firing of Les Miles in late September, Jimbo Fisher stated that he “love[s] Florida State, and that’s all I’m saying.” Earlier this week, a fresh report connected Fisher to the Tigers, with one source telling the New Orleans Times-Picayune that “Jimbo was [athletic director Joe Alleva‘s] guy from the beginning, and I just don’t see him passing on hiring him.”
Of course, it takes two to do the employment tango, and Fisher once again played the “love” card when confronted with this latest round of rumors that has him ticketed for one of his former coaching stops.
“I’m not going to talk about any jobs,” Fisher, LSU’s offensive coordinator from 2000-06, said. “I love being at Florida State. I love being here, and I’m just getting ready for Syracuse.
“That’s the last thing I’m going to say that. No offense to anybody or anything else. I love being here.”
If Fisher were to leave FSU for any FBS job between now and Dec. 31 of this year, his buyout would be $5 million. On Jan. 1, 2017, that number dips to $3 million. According to reports, Alleva would like a new head coach in place either by the end of November or early December.
