Already rejected -- reportedly -- by Boise State’s Chris Petersen and Houston’s Kevin Sumlin, UCLA has reportedly been told “thanks, but no thanks” by Miami’s Al Golden as well.
Now the Bruins have apparently turned to a candidate associated more with professional football as a potential replacement for Rick Neuheisel.
According to the New York Times, and citing people familiar with the search, UCLA has turned its attention toward former Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora Jr. It’s unclear from the report whether the Bruins have already talked to Mora Jr. or if he’s already been interviewed.
As noted by the paper, the only experience Mora Jr., who is currently a color analyst for FOX Sports NFL games, has at coaching at the collegiate level was at Washington way back in 1984.
Mora Jr. last coached in Seattle in 2009, when he was replaced by, oddly enough, Pete Carroll after he decided to leave the Bruins’ cross-town rivals USC for the NFL.
