The talent pool in football is shifting south, but Pitt can still put some guys in the NFL.
Or, at least, give them a shot.
By way of the Pittsburgh Post- Gazette, it’s being reported that six Panthers have been invited to the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. They are:
Wide receiver Jon Baldwin, fullback Henry Hynoski, defensive end Jabaal Sheard, defensive end Greg Romeus, tailback Dion Lewis and offensive tackle Jason Pinkston.
Baldwin, presuming he tones down the T.O.- quarterback smack talk, is a projected late first-round pick. Romeus, the 2009 Big East Defensive Player of the Year, spent practically all of 2010 out with knee and back injuries and Sheard threw a guy through a window last summer.
Lewis rushed for 1061 yards -- nearly 800 less than in 2009 -- and 13 touchdowns.
The combine will be on Wednesday, March 1.
