For the second time in as many days, Texas Tech is faced with the loss of a potential starter on the defensive side of the ball.
Following the fifth practice session of the spring Wednesday, head coach Tommy Tuberville announced that cornerback Will Ford has left the football program and will not return. Tuberville’s explanation as to Ford’s decision was short on both words and clarity.
“Will Ford, he’s no longer on the team,” Tuberville said according to the Dallas Morning News. “He just decided that football, you know, one of those things.”
Ford had been working with the first-team defense for the first three spring practice sessions, but had missed the last two. Ford was the Red Raiders main nickel corner for most of his true freshman season in 2009, but an injury derailed his sophomore season after just three games.
