Report: Shula-to-ECU not happening

Fear not, East Carolina fans. It looks as if Alabama will remain the only collegiate football fans to feel the pain of a Mike Shula-coached team. At least for now.

Earlier today, we noted a report from the Greenville Daily Reflector that stated the former Tide head coach is a leading candidate for ECU’s vacancy.

According to yet another report, that’s not going to happen.

Per Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News, and citing a “Shula source”, Shula is staying in the NFL and remaining in his current capacity as the Jacksonville Jaguars head quarterbacks coach.

The source stated that Shula was indeed contacted about the opening at ECU, but indicated he preferred to remain an assistant in the NFL rather than give collegiate head coaching another shot.

Bullet, meet dodged.

Count your blessings today, Pirate Nation. Count your blessings.
