When Mike Ragone was charged with pot possession last month, it was a widely-held belief that the tight end had probably burnt a bridge and would likely not be a member of the Notre Dame football program in 2010.
Fortunately for Ragone, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to the South Bend Tribune, Ragone is enrolled in summer school and working out with his teammates in preparation for the upcoming season. The paper reports that Ragone is expected to be on the Irish’s active roster come the fall.
There was some concern that the school’s rigidly strict Office of Residence Life would prevent him from playing in 2010; that does not appear to be the case, although it cannot be confirmed due to privacy laws.
Last season, Ragone played in all 12 games and finished with six receptions for 60 yards. The junior is the most experienced tight end on the roster behind All-American candidate Kyle Rudolph.
