POINT GUARD
Trae Young – Atlanta (vs New Orleans)
This Atlanta-New Orleans game should be perfect for fantasy purposes. The over/under is listed at 238 points with the Hawks favored by two. Both teams rank in the top seven for pace and bottom five for team defensive efficiency. Trae Young has looked very good over the past month, most recently hitting 53+ fantasy points in three of his past seven. That includes a sweet 53 FP outing through 28 minutes against Brooklyn yesterday. The rookie should be ready to take advantage of this promising matchup against a Pelicans team that ranks 26th in defensive efficiency to opposing point guards.
Also Consider: Mike Conley, Derrick White
SHOOTING GUARD
Delon Wright – Memphis (vs Orlando)
Wright appears to be carving himself a larger role in Memphis. He filled in admirably for Mike Conley last Sunday with 44 fantasy points through 36 minutes at Oklahoma City. Conley has since returned (should play tonight), but Wright continues to produce with a 32 FP and 28-minute average over his past two. A competitive home matchup against an Orlando squad that ranks below average in defensive efficiency to opposing backcourts could help him keep that pace.
Also Consider: James Harden, Terrence Ross
SMALL FORWARD
Taurean Prince – Atlanta (vs New Orleans)
Prince continues to be underpriced on both FanDuel and DraftKings. He was ejected from Wednesday’s game after playing 19 minutes (23 fantasy points), but he resumed the usual 30-minute role yesterday vs Brooklyn (25 FP). Prince should be able to satisfy his cheap salary while participating in the aforementioned best fantasy environment of the day. His opponent, New Orleans, ranks 28th in defensive efficiency to opposing small forwards.
Also Consider: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Mirotic
POWER FORWARD
Taj Gibson – Minnesota (vs New York)
This pick depends on the status of Karl-Anthony Towns, who is considered questionable after sustaining a right knee injury late in yesterday’s game. Minnesota is currently six games out of a playoff spot with continuously shrinking odds of reaching the postseason. Because of that, there’s a good chance they’ll let their superstar recover on the sidelines tonight. That would promote Gibson, Dario Saric, and Gorgui Dieng to step up in the Timberwolves’ frontcourt. Gibson has been producing some efficient stat-lines lately, and he would have more minutes to work with if Towns sits.
Also Consider: John Collins, Dwight Powell, Dario Saric (if Towns out)
CENTER
Alex Len – Atlanta (vs New Orleans)
Hawks’ center Dewayne Dedmon is listed as questionable tonight, and there’s a good chance he’ll miss his third straight game. That would keep Alex Len in a larger role around 28-30 minutes. If you are a DFS veteran, then you already know the deal with Len. He sometimes runs into foul trouble or general inconsistencies that sabotage his fantasy scores. However, when he gets going, he has legitimate 40-45 fantasy point upside. That could realistically happen in a high-scoring matchup against a New Orleans team that ranks 28th in defensive efficiency to centers. Of course, we’ll have to wait for Dedmon’s status before making a move here.
Also Consider: Clint Capela, Gorgui Dieng (if Towns out)
