Reaching the century mark by itself is an amazing achievement in hockey. To get to 100 points in February, in this particularly era, is incredible. The 2017-18 was Kucherov’s best season to date and he reached the 100-point milestone on April 6th, which was his second last game of the season. He finished third in league scoring and finished sixth in Hart Trophy voting.

On Thursday he found the back of the net for the Lightning, giving him 30 goals and 100 points in just 62 games. While scoring is up in general this season, Kucherov has an eight-point cushion in the scoring race and a 15-point edge over the third place Connor McDavid.

Over the last 30 seasons, only one winger has reached the 100-point milestone quicker and that was in 1995-96 when Jaromir Jagr got there in 52 games. In 1990-91, Brett Hull matched Kucherov’s feat of 100 points in 62 games, per TSN’s StatsCentre. It’s too early to say who will win the Hart Trophy this season, but it’s hard to see Kucherov as anything other than the frontrunner for that award at this point.
