OAKMONT, Pa. – Cristie Kerr’s name looks bolder on a leaderboard now.
You win a major by 12 shots and vault to No. 1 in the world, your name practically glows.
Kerr’s 1-over-par 72 was good for a tie for eighth at day’s end at the U.S. Women’s Open. She’s just three shots off the lead in her bid to win back-to-back majors after claiming the LPGA Championship two weeks ago.
“I hung in there today,” Kerr said. “I think that’s a pretty good start for me.”
