A.J. Allmendinger had a double dose of bad luck in Saturday’s Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway.
First, he was one of several drivers involved in a multi-car wreck on Lap 93, ending his night prematurely with a 36th place finish.
Second, Allmendinger dropped one position -- from 19th to 20th -- in the Sprint Cup standings. He’s currently 31 points out of 16th place -- the final cut-off position for this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup -- and now has just eight more races to get there.
