If the Timberwolves want to trade Ricky Rubio, it’s apparently not happening before Thursday’s deadline unless something comes out of nowhere.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Rubio is a strange case. He repeatedly gets mentioned in trade rumors by national reporters only for Minnesota reporters to convey denials.

He’s young, good and locked into a reasonable contract for the next three years. Rubio is valuable.

His lack of outside shooting makes him a tricky fit, but smart teams would get enough from his crafty passing and stout defense to make him a net positive. Do the Timberwolves qualify?

The answer, as usual: for now.
