Tough break for Philly today, as the club learned it’d be without the services of defenseman Nicklas Grossmann for the next three weeks, thanks to an upper-body injury suffered on this hit from Washington’s Tom Wilson last night:
Grossmann left the game shortly after the hit, and didn’t return.
Given the shaky state of Philly’s defense this season, losing Grossmann is going to hurt. He was one of only two blueliners to play all 40 games this year -- Mark Streit is the other -- and he’s been relatively productive, scoring eight points while averaging 18:29 TOI per night.
Grossmann also sits second on the team in blocked shots, with 53.
