Well, this is the textbook definition of a physical presence.
Dallas Stars veteran forward Erik Cole crushed Anaheim Ducks forward Patrick Maroon with a heavy hit early in the first period of Friday’s game between the two clubs who waged a spirited battle in the 2014 playoffs last spring. Maroon had just turned to play the puck up the ice, when he turned right into Cole, who planted his opponent to the ice less than three minutes into the opening period.
There was no call on the play. The hit appeared perfectly clean and Maroon remained in the game.
