TAMPA, Fla. – The U.S. public practice set for this evening over at Raymond James Stadium is on – for now.
I just spoke to U.S. national team general manager Pam Perkins. She and the coaches are watching the wet weather here, hoping that typical Florida weather patterns prevail, as the rain usually comes and goes through the afternoon.
But the United States will practice this evening, one way or the other. They are looking into alternative fields right now.
The CONCACAF match commissioner will ultimately make the call; as game time arrives, this is not a U.S. Soccer event, but rather a CONCACAF event. So the commissioner can shut down the on-site practice if he, in consultation with officials at Raymond James Stadium, doesn’t believe the teams should train on the game field tonight.
In that event, the team would practice but would cancel the public viewing element.
