2016 UTSA signee racks up second felony arrest in four months

In mid-March, Jaquelle Green was one of four individuals charged with felony armed robbery after a pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint in D’Iberville, Mississippi. At the time, UT-San Antonio head coach Frank Wilson said in a statement that his football program is “aware of the situation and [is] in the process of gathering information” on the situation involving the 2016 signee.

Four months later, Wilson would’ve had some additional information to process as Green, after turning himself in to authorities in the state of Mississippi, has been arrested on multiple felonies stemming from yet another incident, this one occurring in the state of Florida. The investigation into that incident reportedly commenced in late June.

From Patrick Ochs of the Sun-Herald:

Jaquelle Christopher Green, 18, of D’Iberville, was wanted by the Pensacola Police Department on four counts of armed robbery, four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of wearing a mask in the commission of a felony.

Green, who was a standout football player at D’Iberville and signed with Texas-San Antonio in February before his previous arrest in March, was arrested at the D’Iberville Police Station just before noon, Capt. Marty Griffin said.

Green was taken to the Harrison County jail and his bail set at $510,000 bond. He was booked on a hold for Pensacola authorities, pending an initial appearance and extradition to Florida.

According to a report on Scout.com from mid-June, prior to Green’s latest legal run-in, UTSA had parted ways with Green. "[I]t was felt that there were simply too many uncertainties surrounding Green for UTSA to take a chance moving forward,” the website wrote at the time.

A spokesman told the San Antonio Express-News Tuesday that Green’s scholarship was pulled in May, although, again, Wilson has yet to publicly address the recruit’s status with the team.

Green was a three-star member of UTSA’s 2016 recruiting class, rated as the No. 19 player at any position in the state of Mississippi. According to 247Sports.com‘s rankings, Green was the highest-rated member of the Roadrunners’ class this year.
