Houston is getting set to play Navy in the game of the year in the American Athletic Conference a week after seeing its undefeated season snapped on the road at UConn. The Cougars still have plenty to play for and may still actually be the favorite to reach the New Years Six bowl line-up at the end of the season. Regardless, they will do so after losing two players. It was reported today Houston freshman wide receiver Tyriek Gray and offensive lineman James Works have left the program.
No reasons for the departures has been reported, and neither appears to be a major hit to depth in the immediate future of the program. Gray has appeared in just one game this season. Works, a JUCO transfer from Western Community College, has not played a down for the Cougars this season according to The Houston Chronicle’s original report on the roster news. Neither player appeared on the depth chart for last week’s game against the Huskies.
